| Presentation: | Hello guys, I'm Dave. I'm 24 & I currently live in Bristol, England. Up until recently I was working as a chef but I've taken a break from working for a little while to come home & re-evaluate. To find out what it is I really want from life I found that with the stresses & strains of work all I was concerned about was money & I don't want to live my life like that. Up to this point I've never wwoofed before but I have worked in conservation previously & through that job I met a couple of people that had been wwoofing & both told me it had been the most rewarding & enjoyable thing they'd done in their lives. Wwoofing appeals to me because I've always enjoyed working outdoors. I love the feeling that physical labour gives you, when at the end of the day you're caked in mud, you're exhausted but you can see clearly what your hard work has achieved right there infront of you. I would love to be able to offer my services somewhere & really feel like I'm helping someone, if only in a small way & learning at the same time. As I've mentioned I was working as a chef so food is obviously a big passion of mine. One of the things I would love to learn more about while wwoofing is really just the basics about vegetable & fruit production. I have no idea how to grow potatoes or leeks, or carrots, or anything for that matter! It's always felt odd to me that I can work in a kitchen with all these great ingredients & have no idea how I would go about growing them myself. I won't try to lie & say that I don't need a break from the norm, I do, definitely but I'm under no illusions as to the fact that wwoofing involves a lot of hard work & that it isn't just a free holiday. I'm willing to work hard & put the hours in. I see wwoofing as a great way for me to learn more about things that I'm interested about, while meeting new people & exploring some new places. I've tried to be open & honest in my presentation, I hope you can appreciate that. Cheers! Dave |
