We are 2 brothers (age of 24 and 28) groun up here, with family. 10 years ago we started to farm our fathers land and over the years we have expanded. We sustain ourselves by selling pine cones, baskets, bread and we make forest mentenance for neighbours.
This is not a usual farm as people imagine. We work with traditional and alternative technics, that have given very good results. We recreate the native portugues food-forest (ancient large scale permacultural sistem). This being a very complex system, it is not a place for beginners, we need people with working experience, to know some about traditional farming, permaculture and some understanding about natural functions of forests. We are open for new ideas, we want to learn and to transmit our experience. We have fun at work, and we love this paradise in alentejo. The wind from the atlantic refreshes the hot summer. Three km away is a village where you can do some groceries and take the bus to the next town or the beach 6 km.
At the moment the wwoofers house is booked, but we have some wonderful camping spots and access to kitchen and bathroom.
Garden tashs: souing, planting, harvesting, cleaning weeds etc....
Forest works: creating forest with the help of animals (chop and drop, sheppering) hand tools and if necessary small machines.
Harvesting: olives, pinecones, fruits, legumes, mushrooms.
Animals: feeding, sheppering, cleaning the stables.
Alternativ ecological constructions of wwooferhouse, etc...
