Owned 42ha farm in the UK in the borders of England & Scotland, which we converted to a certified organic holding in conjuction with Organic Farmers & Growers, a UK certification body. For 7 years ran mixed animal farm to organic standards, concentrating on rare breeds eg large black pigs, red shetland cattle. Herd still owned by us and with friends in the UK. Very conversant with all organic standards. Our main interest is animal welfare. All our endeavours here in Portugal are to be as near self suffient, and are rearing animals for our own consumption along with limited crop production.
We are interested in sharing our experinces with interested hard working individuals, who are interested in working with animals using organic principals. Work will include day to day animal husbandry, land clearing, vegetable planting and care. We will provide meals daily, sleeping accomadation in main house (will accomodate a couple) we would look for circa 5-6 hrs per day 5 days per week.
