Welcome to Monte da Cunca

At this time we are booked up for this Autumn and are only looking for help from March and later.

We are a couple, a Italian cook Dania (here since 2007) and technical Engineer from Austria Klaus (here since 2002) . Living a self sustainable lifestyle as far as possible.

Current projects include: work in the garden, ecological buildings cleaning of apartments, construction of walls of straw and clay...

Inviting all that are interested in working together and learning from each other. Self initiated projects are welcome!.
Also someone for looking after our horse and donkey could feel free to take over.

ALTERNATE ECO BUILDING Interested? Cob,Cane,Cork, Strowbale,Earth and Eucalyptus

I have been working with Cob,Cane,Cork, Strowbale, Earth and Eucalyptus for more than 7 years. We have lots of projects finished. Strowbale house several Compost toilets, Ramed earth kitchen and eating area we are starting with tree houses, using as many local materials as possible:our own cork,eucalyptus cane,stone and clay soil.

All these techniques and materials harmonize well together and I am more than happy to share my life experience with eager energetic people.

Alternative Energy Interested?

We have just finished building a solarcook but we have in project to build other!

I,m looking for someone to stay and help to finish wind generator for 24Volt power feed.

We have completed our warm water and all our electricity from solar energy, thermal solar system, photovoltaic system.


DO YOU HAVE ARTISTIC FLAIR in carpentry workshop?

I,m looking for someone to stay and help complete the traditional Portuguese donkey cart .

Especially carpenters would have varieties of material to use and full fill creative dreams which would be appreciated (by using) straight away. All skills more than welcomed! we have all the tools for carpentry.

DO YOU HAVE ARTISTIC FLAIR in metal workshop?
We have lots of metal workshop tools making decorative art with copper, steel and stainless steel and so on.
Restore old bikes and historic farming tools.

DO YOU HAVE ARTISTIC FLAIR? in decorating the rooms?
I,m looking for someone to stay and help to decorate the apartments with earth and straw mixture.


Hobbies
Hobbies include kayaking, Solar energy,horse and donkey riding. There are also lots of bikes available to explore the area.

Accommodation for 4 woofers,in caravans motor homes and tents ( only in summer ). We have one camp kitchen living room with wood stove. We have working clothes but please bring your own sleeping bag, laundry facilities available.

Vegetarians are most welcome.

We eat organic vegetables from our garden ,bread homemade,fruits, pasta, rice and eggs from our chicken,pizza sometime fisch!

We can accommodate strict vegans.


We work 6 hrs. a day 6 days a week. We work from 9:00 to 13:00 have lunch and then from 14:00 to 16:00.

Drugs and alcohol are not welcome !!!

We are happy when people stay minimum 2 weeks to a maximum of 1 month.
