We're an organic farm with 6 agro-tourism houses in Madeira Island south coast, hosting volunteers to help in the farm and/or in some projects intended to approach our visitors and houses guests to our organic growing practices.
We produce grapes and wine, a set of sub-tropical fruits like bananas, mangoes, avocados, papaya. We also grow a variety of vegetables for local consumption.
Please take a look at our website for more information about Faja dos Padres before applying. The place is set in idyllic scenery, and has a 1 km pebble beach front. Notice that the only access to the property is by an exterior lift that climbs a 250 mts cliff, and that the lift trips out of the regular opening hours are limited. This special access to the property makes it a fairly remote place, but you will find a village within 2 kms distance from the lift upper station. We offer a daily return car trip to the main city - Funchal.
Volunteers will be hosted in one of the touristic guest houses with one room, living room, kitchenette and bathroom with all facilities.
We'd like applicants to be highly motivated, have a sense of responsibility and initiative, be able to work on its own as well as part of a team.
Work 6-8 hours a day, 6 days a week, but this can vary a lot depending on the specific task to be done or the weather conditions.
