Welcome to Martin and Lisa

We are in the early days of creating the infrastructure in order to make this a thriving organic farm focusing on ecological building tecniquies and permaculture plant and animal pracitises. Inspired by Sepp Holzer.
Our aim is to restore this farm into a haven of learning, sharing and enjoying the simple and physical elements of life that can get lost in these hectic times. We made the leap in the spring of 2009 and have been gentle on the land, finding and planting our feet. Observing the seasons and our needs, working with the trees , land and water. Our focus is on the buildings, seasonal vegetables, grains and animals as well as working the woodland and planting a decidious forrest and planning for a large aquaculture project. The tasks shared are varied, IT,sowing fields, biodynamics, observation, tree care, grafting, forrestry, animal husbandry, craft sharing,eco-building ( lime, clay, abobe, dry stone walling, timber framing, strawbale and more) cheese-making, eco-tecnology construction (Bio-gas plant, hydro electricity, ram and high lifter pumps ) Creating time and spaces with children and much more. If you share with us your interests and skills we will try and match them to projects that we hope you would enjoy being a part of.
Seasonal work like grape and olive harvests are all hands on deck but there are always rewards to be had from these experiances!!! We enjoy mostly vegetarian cooking and will provide good home cooked food. The accommadation is rustic at the moment, an attic style room in a separate partly renovated ruin with a wood burner and bed.In the summer a bell tent is also available.we are totally of grid using a 12 volt solar system.A bathroom with compost toilet woodfired hot water shower, bath and washing machine is in the process of being built.
we have 3 children, our eldest at school, so there are daily trips to Coja and weekly trips to Arganil. The landscape of this region is breath-taking , with many beatiful places to visit.
We ask for 5 days a week , 5 hours a day monday to friday with weekends free. Preferably non-smokers with respect for our family home, friends and community. Domestic duties are shared thoughout the week , we are always keen to learn new ways of using our energy as efficently as possible so we still have time to look up at the stars and play with our children and look forward to sharing the experiance with others.
