We, Bert and Marianne with our daughter Eline have started the first ecoligical tourism business along the Alentejo coast. At present we have two houses to rent out and have started buidling 4 more.
On our 20 hectares (50 acres) of land we let nature go it´s way. This means that we do not want to built a "normal" resort with concrete paths etc.
Dead trees that fell down will remain. Some we may use for wood for our central heating system in our house that runs on a woodburner.
For us this is important because we want to make a birders paradise here.
But this does not mean that we do not have work to do. We need to put in garden areas around the new to built houses, we need nice picknick spots on our property, we need walking paths, we need a birdwatching hide-out, we need all this and much more done in an ecological way and with very low maintanance in the future.
Untill now we have selected the plants and trees very carefully for draught resistance and bird attraction.
Water is one of the most important things in life so we are going to built an ecological sewage system meaning cleaning the water with plants. The overflow will go to the future lake and from there water will be used for irrigation.
What we are looking for is people who are very close to nature, understand nature and can make use of nature.
Most thing we want to do we can do with products provided from our own land like wood and stones. But it is an awfull lot of work.
Therefor we need help.
If you think you can help us and help us also learn more then we do know about nature you are most welcome.
What we can offer over the winter months is a completely furnished house where you have your own privacy.
Working hours have to be agreed. Use of the swimming pool is included.
