I am a painter/musician/designer creating a serpent shaped multi-variety orchard with more than 200 fruit trees & bio-diverse gardens on a eastern slope down to a small rivulet.
70 olives and 20 figs in the ancient orchard.
ON THE ORCHARD PROPERTY we have more than half of the vegetable garden planted using the Permaculture philosophy of both Fukuoka and Hazelips. The rest of the land has been planted with chickpeas, fava beans and winter beans, cowpeas, onions and lupins.down by the creek on a borrowed property( thanks Ceu), the most recent wwoofers have constructed and planted more than 50 potato towers and pumpkin ,watermelon, rockmelon and zucchini towers, these will need constant care and watering, picking and gathering. we are building more towers at the moment and it will be an on going process of tower building on this new experimental plot.
the goats are giving milk after their birthing of two beautiful kids, one black and the other brown...with this milk, wwoofers will make youghurt and hopefully some cheese.
I have a wood-fired bread oven and wwoofers will help make the bread and pizzas when necessary. Recently we have been making focaccia using the fresh herbs and oil from last years olive crop.
There is a computer with internet for wwoofer access in communal living room.
wwoofer sleeping area located in the studio downstairs at ground garden level or on the mezzanine .One room sleeps 2, the other sleeps 3.
ON THE HILL PROPERTY;- where we have horses and pigs the main interest is Environmental Biology and an in depth knowledge of endemic species, Mediterranean ecosystem from animals to plants and insects, in a nature based environment where horse breeding and natural training of horses became a way of life. there is always feeding, cleaning and riding the horses, check and fix fences and so on...sleeping is always at the orchard property
which is just a five minute drive away.
