Hello to all, I spent a month from mid January to mid February with Raquel and her family 2017. During that time Raquel was a generous and caring host. It's a busy house with 2 small children, a sometimes work at home partner and 2 dogs. The day can begin early especially if you are a light sleeper as the children are awake often before 6am. It's a great place to be if you enjoy children and watching them learn and develop. If you do not have the patience to take time with them then this may not be the right place for you.
I arrived expecting warmer weather and Raquel kindly supplied me with extra clothes.
Food was vegetarian with fresh salads every day from the garden. I had my own bedroom.
Because the children are small Raquel cannot spend a lot of time with you in the garden so it's a bonus if you have some experience and can work alone. I found her to be a good communicator and clear with her instructions.
The area of Jao Bon is very quiet at night but If the weather is good there are lot of walking trails and places to see during daylight hours.
For me this wwoofing host family were a great introduction to the Azores. They took me on family outings, showed me local places of interest, especially associated with bird watching and were generous with their time and information.
The bus stops outside the door and the only negative I can think of is the noise of the local tractors in the morning on the road which is country life here.
I would recommend Raquel and her family for a good wwoofing experience.
