contact rather via phone or internet?

Expired user

Good day to y'all,
I've just joined the Wwoof network today and am excited about it, though I have a gerneral question concerning getting in contact the hosts.

I've noticed the 'Hosting-request'-Button, but since I find the way of establishing first contact to people via internet quite...sterile, I'd rather get in touch with the hosts via phone and talk to them straight. However, I'm sure that not everyone is happy about the phone being busy all day. So my question is if there are any conventions and opinions about that within here..
All answers are appreciated.

Speaking as a host, I´m quite happy for potential volunteers to telephone. That´s why we supply out phone number after all!

I also prefer direct emails to using the wwoof PM system, because it´s easier to reply via my telephone (which doesn´t seem to like the wwoof website!).

What irritates me hugely, however I´m contacted, is when people haven´t read the information that we´ve provided. There´s a huge amount of information on our website which is specifically for potential volunteers, and it would be great if people could read it rather than ask me the same questions over and over.

Well, I guess the contacting thing is a matter of taste. Just wanted to make sure that hosts in general don't feel like their privacy is violated or sometething when interested wwoofers call them all the time. On the other hand, why should anyone post their number if they'd be annoyed when people call? Good point.

I unterstand your anger about the read-o-phobic people but there's always going to be folks that rather forego written words :)
thanks for your post
