Gay friendly wwoof hosts?

Does anyone know of any wwoof hosts who are gay friendly?

It is funny you ask because right now I have a lesbian couple over and they have felt sometimes that they need to point out that they are a couple to people before they show up at hosts. I could easily figure that out "inbetween the lines" when they wrote the first mail to me, and for me it was definitely not a problem. Why should it be?!

I find it quite sad that people still need to be afraid of going to places because of their sexual orientation. But ok, I have a lot of friends from very different backgrounds already. Maybe in some parts of the countryside there might be some more intolerance.

So, I guess I can be counted in on the "gay friendly" list - if it is enough that you care for how people are as persons rather than who they share their love life with. But we don't have rainbow flags all over the place or Eurovision-karaoke if this is what you mean. :P (Just kidding, people tend to have that idea about gay people and think all are the same.)

This is a difficult one. I think most hosts that are gay-friendly really don't see the need to announce the fact that they are gay-friendly. Of course they treat homosexual people just like hetrosexual people and anything in between. People are people. However, those hosts that are not gay-friendly, in today's political climate, wouldn't dare announce the fact. In consequence no hosts announce themselves either way.

Also, homo-ignorant homophobic hosts are probably not going to pick up on cues in between the lines, and a homo-WWOOfer could be made to feel extremely unwelcome by such a host.

It is perfectly understandable that, rather than risk landing themselves in such a horrible situation, many gay and lesbian WWOOFERs prefer to state their case before travelling to a host. Nobody likes being made to feel unwelcome, and for many gays and lesbians rejection can be VERY VERY upsetting, and spoil their whole trip.

Good on you, Quinta da Mandragora. Now there are two of us on the gay-friendly list.

* Quinta da Mandragora
* Quinta do Barbeito

As a host, I don´t give a shit. My guest can be what ever they like as long as they work well togtether.

For Quinta da Fornalha it (sexual preference) doesn't matter, we agree to Barbeito: "People are people". We have gay and lesbian friends, we ask all people - when wwoofers arrive in pair - if they are a couple because if so, we can give them a couple bedroom, and if they aren't, a twin room... that's the only purpose...and the question applies both to hetero couples, one never knows if they are friends or lovers...
