We are based in central Portugal on a large remote permaculture farm. Our aim is to become a self sustainable yoga retreat and community.
We have recently bought the land and need volunteers to help us set up all the facilities. Until we set it up there are almost no facilities on the land, but we will install our solar panels, hot water system etc with your help. We are also renting a house in the village for us to all use for hot showers and cooking until we are set up on the land. Come and experience how to set up a permaculture farm from the very start.
This includes, building, natural building, setting up garden beds, reforestation and gardening. We really do need help from a carpenter, electrician or builders.
'The owners are an English couple in their 30s who gave up city life so they could grow their own food and practice yoga every day. They are yoga teachers and permaculture designers. They have travelled around both teaching yoga and volunteering at permaculture and yoga projects before buying their own land so know what it is like to be a volunteer and aim to make it a fun and healthy experience.'
We want to live in a community to share the workload and had good company. Including us, there will usually be between 8 and 10 people living and working together. Which is a nice number to make it fun!
We work on the land 5 days per week.
We also do community work for half a day at a local farm that needs help..
There is 1.5 days off to explore are large farm or the local area, we usually arrange day trips so we can all get off the farm from time to time.
Bring your own tent or borrow one of ours. We have blow up beds, blankets etc to keep you warm. We also are putting up awnings over the tents.
