We are growing organic vegetables for the market. In doing so we are attempting to regenerate the landscape and live as sustainably as possible.
We want to work with fit and motivated people who are interested to learn hands-on how to run a sustainable organic farm. Work hours: About 6 hours per day at least five days a week.
Our approach utilises rotational grazing, compost tea, the seeding of multi species grasses, water conservation through keyline design as well as other water harvesting techniques and the avoidance of soil compaction.
There is mixed accommodation: two permanent tipis/tents and a camper van. We accept people bringing their own camper also.
We won't host very young or completely inexperienced wwoofers at the moment or people passing through the area very briefly, so please do not request hosting if that is your situation.
People with a working background are particularly desirable. Any very practical, motivated volunteers who show enthusiasm and carefulness are welcome.
If you have no transport you can hitch rides into town or the beach or borrow a bicycle. Sometimes we can offer lifts into town.
When can you visit Quinta da Malveira?
